A common motif in medieval European Christian art, showing the Four Evangelists as the following creatures:

• Matthew The Evangelist: A winged man/angel.
• Mark The Evangelist: A lion, often a winged lion.
• Luke The Evangelist: An ox, often a winged ox.
• John The Evangelist: An eagle.

Generally, these creatures will also have haloes.
